Last weekend’s Festival of Light has us all counting down to Christmas. Families can fill the days ahead with more yuletide magic in Berkhamsted and HP4.
Santa comes to Berkhamsted this Christmas
Where can you see Santa in Berkhamsted this Christmas? Well in a few places, actually.
The Make Believe Café have created a Santa’s Grotto for the first time this year, where children can have that all-important conversation with the man in red about their Christmas wishes (29 November-9 December).
After his sleigh ride parade at the Festival of Light, Santa will now visit as many Berkhamsted streets as he can, supported each night by volunteers from the community. This is an annual Christmas tradition (and fundraiser for local schools and charities) made possible by Berkhamsted Rotary Club (runs until 18 December).
Christmas Photoshoots at Ashridge Estate
Back for 2023, Lyndsey Abercromby’s Christmas photoshoots take place in two specially created festive sets in Ashridge National Trust Visitors Centre. Photos capture that Christmas sparkle, and are ideal for Christmas cards and presents. However there only a handful of slots left, so grab yours while you can (1,2,3 December)!
December @ The Eco Hub
The Eco Hub is a new community group in Berkhamsted focused on helping us make greener and more planet-friendly choices. At the December meeting, Parents for Future Dacorum will be there to run a toy swap and to show families how to make eco decorations (3 December).
Brunch with the Grinch
The Lounge by Graze Life have the most imaginative ideas! At this Christmas special, kids can enjoy an immersive Brunch with the Grinch, who will get up to all sorts of games, fun and mischief. Tickets include a delicious brunch graze. Yum! (3 December)
St Mary’s School Christmas Fair
The whole community is invited to St Mary’s C of E Primary School’s Christmas Fair. Games, stalls, mulled wine and mince pies… enjoy the festive fun and help raise funds for this local primary school (2 December).
Pottery Decoration
Children aged eight and over can create Christmas tree decorations of various designs out of air dried clay at Open Door’s Pottery Studio. Then they can take their piece (s) home to paint in their own time (7 December).
The Nutcracker at Ashridge House
‘It’s the night before Christmas, and as Clara and her toy Nutcracker drift off to sleep, their dreams are invaded by the evil Mouse King…’
Sneaky Experiences have created an immersive theatre show especially for Ashridge House, turning its incredible historic backdrops into the stage for a magical production of The Nutcracker (19-24 December).
Crib Service at St Peter’s Church
This is a Christmas tradition beloved by many Berkhamsted families. St Peter’s Church will lead a Crib Service at 3 and 5pm on Christmas Eve, where young children can discover the wonder of the Nativity, through carols, stories and prayers (24 December).
