Two open gardens, a murder mystery, a food festival and a charity walk – have a memorable May with these events in Berkhamsted & HP4 from The Event Hub Dacorum.
The Berkhamsted Walk
Just in time for the bluebells, The Berkhamsted Walk offers three routes, including one for families, through the local countryside. Well-signposted, with refreshments along the way, this annual charity event is a great way to explore the local area, and to raise funds for The Children’s Society (12 May).
If you like the idea of experiencing the outdoors in a new way, you’ll also love the Chilterns Electric Bike Tours running every Saturday this spring and summer. Another must is a new series of monthly photography walks organised by ‘Unlocking Children’s and Adults’ Potential’.
The Bull Street Food Festival
The Bull are partnering with Street Food Heroes to host a mouth-watering line-up of local street food vendors from the Hertfordshire area for a Bank Holiday Sunday Food Festival in the heart of Berkhamsted. Try Korean, Indian, German, waffles, pizza, wood-fired meats and more (5 May).
Ashridge House: Murder Weekend & Open Garden
Ashridge House is the setting for two very different events in May. Experience a murder mystery weekend created by Joy Swift: crack the case and indulge in a package that offers two nights of accommodation, and delicious food and drink (24-26 May). Or spend a day at the Plant Fair and glorious gardens of this historic house, which will be open to the public as part of the annual National Open Garden Scheme (19 May).
Open Door Garden Day with Cream Tea
Open Door invites you to come and enjoy their newly created garden for an afternoon of music from the Ukulele Band, activities and an opportunity to enjoy a cream tea in the tranquil space that has been created (11 May).
Dacorum Young Artists 2024
Over 970 paintings created over the last school year by Year 4 and 5 children from across Dacorum will be on display at Ashlyns School, as part of the annual Dacorum Young Artists Competition. Come and celebrate local youth talent in this exhibition organised by Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead Rotary Clubs, the Arts Society Gade Valley and Ashridge Decorative & Fine Arts Society (4 May).
Live Music
It’s hard to pick just one of the musical events happening in HP4 in May: from The Bowie Experience at the Civic Centre (17 May) to classical guitarist Craig Ogden at Little Gaddesden Church (19 May), all sorts of genres are covered. Have a look at our music pages to discover what’s on.
