Behind the Mirror: Eulogy

Join Behind the Mirror at Berkhamsted Town Hall for an evening of some of the most personal and intimate music ever written for string quartet, including two pieces by young British composers (25 February). In our latest blog post we interviewed Clare O’Connell, founder and performer with Behind the Mirror about what inspired her to create a concert series that can be enjoyed by the local community. 

Berkhamsted Film Society: First Cow & Les Choristes

Berkhamsted Film Society have a great programme of film screenings at the Civic Centre. This month, they will show Les Choristes about a music teacher who transforms the lives of orphan boys in post-war France (12 & 13 February) and Kelly Reichardt’s First Cow about an unlikely friendship between two men in 19th century Oregon (26 & 27 February). 

Vyne Theatre: Manon & Vanya

The Vyne Theatre’s screenings allow you to experience world-class performances without having to travel to London, such as the Royal Opera House production of Manon the ballet (pictured, 11 February) and the National Theatre’s ‘radical new version’ of Chekhov, Vanya, starring Andrew Scott (25 February). 

Valentine’s Day and more at The Lounge by Graze Life

The Lounge by Graze Life have Valentine’s covered – whether you’re looking for a romantic evening on the day itself or a party with a twist for Galentine’s. They are also putting on lots of fun nights throughout February, including Bopping Bingo, a Karaoke Party and Cabaret Show

Smash Arts: 24 Hour Musical

Smash Arts Theatre Company will create and perform a musical in just 24 hours at Berkhamsted’s Centenary Theatre. The 24 hour cast, creatives and team will work solidly through the night and day to create this ‘secret’ show – all for an incredible cause, Spread a Smile Children’s Charity (17 February).

Talks: Dacorum Heritage and Berkhamsted Society

Dacorum Heritage’s museum store is open by appointment only, but they will be giving a virtual talk this month exploring various objects that reveal Dacorum’s past, from Roman Times and onwards (pictured, 9 February). 
   You also won’t want to miss Berkhamsted Society’s evening of story-telling and adventure taking place at the Centenary Theatre with Kate Silverton, News Presenter and Therapist, and Lynn Bowles, BBC Radio Wales and Former Travel Presenter for Radio 2 (1 February). 

American Songbook: Swing Style with Steve Kite

Singer Steve Kite will take you back to the golden age of swing at Warehouse Pizza. Includes pizza by the slice and the dress code is: ‘dress to impress in your swing-era best’ (1 February). 

Half Term Art Classes with the Mindful Artbox

The Mindful Artbox are specialists in arts events and activities, where you can explore your creative side, whatever your age. They are running February Half Term art workshops and camps suitable for children in Buckinghamshire at Open Door (15-16 February) and Hertfordshire at Potten End Primary School(21-23 February). Ideal for young artists!
