Join us for a talk about this major travel route which was vital during the Industrial Revolution linking London to the Midlands.
The Grand Junction Canal, later known as the Grand Union Canal, was completed in 1811, linking London and Birmingham. It had two major tunnels, at Braunston and Blisworth in Northamptonshire and two great engineering works: the Wolverton Aqueduct in Buckinghamshire and the Tring Cutting in Hertfordshire. It was Britain’s busiest and most profitable canal.
