Profile
St Peter’s Church Choir presents a musical meditation for Palm Sunday on the passion and death of Jesus, with congregational singing.
The Crucifixion was written by John Stainer for the choir of Marylebone Church in London in 1887. It relates the Biblical narrative of the Passion and Crucifixion of Jesus. Through a series of choral pieces, we are drawn deeper into the drama and tragedy of the events leading up to Good Friday, preparing us spiritually for our worship all through Holy Week.
Whether you feel religious or not, you are invited to hear this popular piece of Victorian sacred music, with its emotive musical setting of the Good Friday story.
