Profile
Join Ian in the Pottery Shed this summer to create something amazing with air dried clay. This time you are invited to hand build a 3D fish from the animated film ‘Finding Nemo’ in air dried clay, which you’ll be able to take home, and paint once it’s dry. Kids (or adults!) can choose one a tropical fish based on the theme of ‘Finding Nemo’ and his friends:
*Clownfish (Nemo)
*Blue Hippo Tang (Dory)
*Longnose Butterfly Fish (Tad)
*Yellow Tang (Bubbles)
*Striped Damselfish (Deb)
*Moorish Idol (Gill)
*Royal Gramma (Gurgle)
*Puffer Fish (Bloat)
They will then learn how to make the chosen fish in air dried clay, and at the end of the session paints will be provided so that the model can be taken home to dry and painted in the bright colours of the chosen tropical fish.
The workshop will cover the preparation of the clay into slabs, joining slabs using scoring and water. Adding clay to the body such as the fins and other detail. They will also be working from pictures of the fish to identify specific features to include in the model.
As well as the tuition by Ian one of our resident Potters, all tools, clay, and aprons will be available to complete the models of the fish.
Suitable for ages 5+ (parents/carers must be present for those 6 and under).
Everyone making must please book a ticket.
Please bring a shoe box or other similar sized box in order to take your creation home safely.
