Profile
Join our artist in residence, Shelia de Rosa, and Elspeth Robertson for a series of four workshops which demonstrate how to make interesting and poignant paper structures using simple paper cutting, folding and assembling techniques.
Monday 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th November, 10:30-12:30pm
Session 1: We will be teaching basic Japanese folding techniques – you will be introduced to the ancient art of paper folding (or origami), and will learn some simple methods to create both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional structures like the birds.
Session 2: You’ll use a pre-designed template to make interesting paper houses using prints, photos and maps and have the capability of conveying complex meaning and emotions. These can make pretty and unusual Christmas decorations. Please bring with you any prints, photos, maps or images that convey meaning to you, copied onto A4 sized paper.
Session 3: You will be given a simple template to make octahedrons. With the addition of a long tassel and seasonal paper these structures make super Christmas decorations you can be proud to have made.
Session 4: You will explore making crown greeting cards, triangular books and Christmas stars.
