Profile
Upcycle fabulous sari fabrics into exciting items inspired by Indian design. We provide sewing expertise, fabric and sewing needs.
This taster session to make an elegant scarf is at a discounted cost of £15.
We aim to have further classes in this series in 2023, with other exciting projects including making a glamorous tunic top, clutch bag, cushion cover, table runner and mats and other decorative items out of beautiful sari material.
We have sewing machines you can use, kindly donated by Workaid (a brilliant local charity which refurbishes tools to help young people get work – workaid.org). Alternatively, you are welcome to bring your own, but it is really important that if you do so, you are sure the machine is in safe and working order, and preferably PAT tested. If you are not sure, please either use one of ours, or enquire about servicing in advance – details at www.opendoorberkhamsted.co.uk/make–mend
Part of our Make & Mend programme – made possible by a Dacorum Borough Council Green Community Grant.
Open Door is a community arts space and café on Berkhamsted High Street with a range of activities, exhibitions and workshops on offer – see www.opendoorberkhamsted.co.uk/whats-on for more information, or get in touch if you’re interested in volunteering – there’s lots to get involved in!
