Profile
A new autumn 2023 programme of Hertfordshire Health Walks begins in Berkhamsted. Enjoy the local countryside and green spaces in trails led by qualified volunteer leaders. Meet new people and enjoy the many health and well-being benefits walking provides. Our walks are volunteer-led, friendly and local – everyone (aged 18 years and above) is welcome!
Walking improves your health by:
-Helping your heart and lungs to work better
-Lowering your blood pressure
-Keeping your weight down and managing blood sugar levels
-Boosting your mood
-Keeping your joints, muscles and bones strong
-Increasing your ‘good’ cholesterol
With a regular walk on your doorstep, you can start to build activity into your daily life. You can start slowly and walk at a pace you are comfortable with, thanks to our grading system. We advocate brisk walking – where you feel a bit warmer and your heart is beating a bit faster, but you’re still able to chat to the person next to you. That’s when you’ll reap the health benefits listed above
Please see the attached image for the full programme of walks in Berkhamsted, which will run until the end of December 2023. The walks are organised by grades 1-4, and take place on alternate Thursdays, starting at the Millennium Garden in Canal Fields. The next walk takes place on 5 October 2023, but please see the programme for a complete list of dates.
