Profile
The Old Hall is the original school house of Berkhamsted School, founded in 1541 by Dean Incent. The chapel is late 19th century, modelled on the chapel of Santa Maria dei Miracoli in Venice. A small exhibition relating to the history of the school is available and tours are taken by Old Boys of School House. Old Hall when built in 1544 was the largest school hall in the country. It now has portraits of previous headmasters, including one of Graham Greene’s father.
